The Retardation of Aging and Disease by Dietary Restriction, Weindruch and Walford
(Out of print)
Review by Ed Sullivan
If you get a chance, read a copy of "Retardation of Aging..etc" by
Weindruch and Walford. While Roy has written with great clarity, a review of this book makes some of his statements even more clear. When he says that extended life span depends on calorie restriction only (assuming good nutrition) that's what he
means. In a group ofcalorie restricted mice or rats, the heaviest animals live longest, not the lightest. The greater the calorie restriction short of starvation, the longer the life span.
