I recently added the so called dark muscovado sugar to my diet. That's an ultra dark, unrefined sugar cane juice concentrate which has the aspect of a dark brown coarse sludge and a strong flavour, often resembling licorice. The sugar cane juice has been processed at high temp, so some phytochemical are lost. We know though that many phytochemicals and polyphenols are heat resistant. This food is a good choice for those who wish to include some natural, healthy sweets in their regime. It combines extra-well with cocoa. Last but not least: it's unexpensive.
