Beans/lentils as a staple?

Are there any downsides to using beans/lentils as the primary staple of my diet? The one thing is that they are high in protein (esp. leucine in lentils), which could elevate mTOR signalling, but it's also possible that protein-rich plant foods may not elevate mTOR signalling as much as protein-rich animal foods.

You could certainly do worse than beans & lentils, but it depends on what you mean by "the primary staple of my diet". Like - eat mostly legumes?!  It seems like it would be hard to get balanced nutrition if they are most of what you're eating. You'll definitely want to run your legume-heavy diet through CRON-O-Meter!

I would be curious if lectins / saponins / other anti-nutrient factors could be a potential long term issue here when consuming these in high amounts frequently.
