Dean Pomerleau
All, The software that supports these forums has many capabilities that are obscure and not easily discovered. This thread is intended as a clearinghouse for useful technical tips for getting the most from these forums. I'll kick it off with a few links and brief descriptions in this post. Dean Pomerleau
Embedding a YouTube Video in a Post Here is the form a link to a YouTube video must have in order for it to show up as an embedded video (rather than just a link) in a post: http s://www.youtube.com/watch?v=837tx9UG1gQNote1: I've put an extra space between the p & s in "https" to make it so it doesn't show up here as an embedded video! Obviously remove that space, and replace the "837tx9UG1gQ" with the identifier for the video you want to post. Note2: a shortened YouTube URL, like this: http s://youtu.be/837tx9UG1gQ won't work. You need to spell out the full URL, like "http s://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXXXXX" in order for the video to show up in your post. Bonus - If you want to make sure closed captioning is turned on (in english), append: "&hl=en&cc=1" to the end of the URL. For example: h ttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=837tx9UG1gQ&hl=en&cc=1 --Dean
Dean Pomerleau
Advanced Search of the CR Forums There are times when the simple search box at the top of the page isn't enough to help you find the post you're looking for. At such times, you can use the advanced search function, accessible via this link. it allows you to narrow your search based on tags, author, date, forum etc. There is probably a link to it somewhere prominent on these forums, but for the life of me I couldn't seem to find it. You might want to bookmark it (as I have) to have it handy. --Dean
