GreyCup
Hi all, I have enjoyed consuming content on this forum. Thank you to all members who actively post. Please know that many lurk in the background and benefit from the exchange of knowledge. I am about to embark on my first FMD using the Prolon box. I have previously completed water only fasts. I will compare FMD changes in biomarkers to those of other fasting interventions (water, self-hacked FMD, etc.) I was planning to track the enclosed at onset and immediately post FMD, any suggestions on others? Thomas G
Hi GreyCup, I just wanted to say welcome. I'm not knowledgeable enough to provide a useful answer to your questions, but I would be very interested to learn about what you discover. -Thomas

mccoy
Hi grey cup, welcome to the forum! Your list seems pretty complete, at least in reference to the analyses carried out by Longo and co-workers in their 2012 article on FMD (B) Glucose (n = 19). © b-hydroxybutyrate (FMD n = 19, Control n = 18). (D) IGF-1 (FMD n = 19, Control n = 18). (E) IGFBP-I (FMD n = 19, Control n = 17). (F) Body weight (n = 19). (G and H) Trunk fat (FMD n = 18, Control n = 19) (G) and lean body mass (H) evaluated by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. (I) C-reactive protein (CRP; FMD n = 19, Control n = 18) levels of all subjects (left) and subjects in the average or high-risk group for heart disease (n = 8; right). (J) Percentage of linCD184+ CD45 mesenchymal stem/progenitor cells (MSPC) in the peripheral blood mono-nucleated cell population (FMD n = 16, Control It would be very interesting to add a DEXA scan before and after, to single out the losses in adipose tissue and skeletal muscle tissue, of course the budget may not allow it. GreyCup
Thanks for the suggestion on the DEXA! This would be interesting as I am concerned about preserving lean muscle as much as possible. I will just need to look into the radiation associated with the scan, as I generally avoid scans for this reason.

Then you might try a good impedenzometer, since you are not concerned with the absolute values rather the difference, so providing the instrumentation has enough precision and the measurements are done with the same instrument then it would serve the purpose.
