sM1o
Galina Sergejewna Schatalowa I wanted to ask if you know Galina Sergeyevna Shatalova and her (seemingly proven theories). I realized It is hard to find her books in any language other than German and Russian. She has interesting theories, experiments and proofs, among others, on the following topics: - live with 200-400 kcal / day - Vegan nutrition with focus fruits / legumes - Respiratory tract - Water - Cold and heat training - and much more Here is a interesting summary about her theories and experiments (unfortunately in german but i tried to transulate it for you): -- http://www.symptome.ch/blog/galina-schatalova-ueberblick introduction The Russian doctor and scientist Galina Schatalova has created an impressive life's work with her holistic system of natural recovery. She saw the innate power of the self-healing organism as the source of lifelong health and propagated the reduction in daily energy intake to 250 - 400 kcal (at rest) or about 1,100 kcal in activity. Schatalova's concept of species-appropriate plant nutrition is completely opposite to the conventional, balanced diet (mixed diet). Examining the two main pillars of health, nutrition and exercise, which play an equally central role in Schatalova's system of natural recovery, we consider in part the practical life's work of Schatalova, taking into account current sports science aspects. Schatalova's book series is recommended to the interested reader in advance. Dr. Galina Schatalova (1916 - 2011) was a general practitioner of naturopathy and, as a surgeon and neurosurgeon, she managed various departments in the best hospitals of the then USSR. She was head of the medical selection commission of Soviet cosmonauts and as a scientist conducted many experiments, some of them on behalf of the Geological Society, the Siberian Academy of Sciences or the Scientific Institute of Physical Culture of the then USSR. Schatalova performed experiments on herself for more than 55 years until her death at the age of 95. In 1960, the idiosyncratic lateral thinker begins with the development of her revolutionary healing concept, with the system of natural recovery, as well as the concept of the appropriate, curative (herbal) nutrition. It was her goal on the one hand to completely heal her patients and on the other hand to pass on her knowledge - as an inheritance, so to speak. She relied on facts, logic and reason when it comes to sustainable and complete health. Exactly based on this for decades developed system of natural recovery. I'm well anyway, you say. No, you are not, if you can believe Galina Schatalova - and their arguments weigh heavily. But let's start at the beginning. --- 1. Motivation: What is the most dangerous weapon in the world? No, not nuclear weapons. The most dangerous weapon in the world is our mind! Our health is attacked day by day by the meat, dairy, egg, sugar and pharmaceutical industries. First, they make us sick, and then we get sick. For money, they go over your body: in the end, you die of the foods that have made you terminally ill. And we allow this. With our agreement, the modern food industry and health care (more health than healthcare) control total body damage. Not only that sufferers are getting younger, the z. B. suffering from cardiovascular, cancer or metabolic diseases. More and more children and adolescents are affected by chronic diseases such as overweight and obesity, diabetes, asthma or atopic dermatitis. But what do we do? Nothing. In blind "obedience" we remain systematically "on track" and follow the recommendations of a science close to science and politics, which is often anything but neutral in the service of public health. The bad news is we think with our stomach, not with our heads. We spend millions on sham-health and diets and believe (almost) everything that's presented to us. Wake up and use your brains! Only the mind enables you to become fully and sustainably healthy and then to stay. Galina Schatalova was far ahead of her time - and, it seems, even today - when it comes to the holistic understanding of the organism and the holistic process of recovery. She bravely refused - especially as a doctor - classic treatments and medications such as surgery or antibiotics strictly. Rather, she relied on a simple and yet multifactorial system of natural recovery and her concept of welfare-friendly and curative nutrition. As a result of technological and medical advances, humanity is getting older, but also getting sicker: Given the skyrocketing number of civilized diseases and prolonged suffering, lifelong health is a long way off (see morbidity and mortality). The paradox of this apparent discrepancy makes people suffer more and more, with no hope for a better quality of life or a longer life, what one should actually be able to conclude from the current state of the art and thus medicine. In spite of all the conveniences of modernity in the 21st century, life expectancy does not exceed 70 to 80 years on average. So what's wrong here? --- 2. Schatalova's patients In her books, Schatalova presents excerpts of some of her patients, who were abandoned by conventional medicine after exhausting all their treatment methods as death-consecrated. Often Schatalova's patients came to her not only with a serious illness, but with multiple diseases from multiple chronic diseases such. As intestinal inflammation (duodenal, small intestine, colitis), various tumors (brain and liver tumor), tumors (larynx, ovaries), drug allergies, bloody diarrhea, no (more) existing intestinal flora, heart disease (sometimes multiple infarcts ), High blood pressure, coronary sclerosis, (hypertrophied) liver cirrhosis, asthma or bronchitis (or a combination thereof), shingles, pancreatitis, gastric ulcer, chronic gastritis, eczema, purulent skin disease by mites and much more. Schatalova's goal with her work was to completely cure her patients for health and quality of life. In view of the fact that conventional medicine is primarily used to treat symptoms rather than true healing by eliminating the causes of diseases, the complete recovery of Schatalova patients is extremely impressive. --- 3. Schatalova's experiments between 1983 - 1990 and research results Schatalova impressively demonstrates what she considers unlimited possibilities and the innate power of the self-healing organism through her expeditions between 1983 and 1990. She names the Desert Expedition over 500 km in the summer of 1990 as outstanding proof of this. Schatalova herself came with former and post-herocardial patients (with previous illnesses: cancer, duodenal ulcer, insulin-dependent diabetes, heart and kidney disease, liver cirrhosis and hypertension with 20 years of medication) after only 16 days - 4 days ahead of schedule - and a daily average of 31 km at the finish. The main reason for Schatalova's experiments was the question of how the amount of food on endurance, as well as physical and mental health. Schatalova's experiments served as scientific and practical proof of her theories. She herself still participates in many expeditions at a high age of more than 70 years (see Figure 2). In her books Schatalova describes only the most important experiments: desert crossings, mountain hikes and alpine mountain tours, super marathons, as well as the health camp in the summer of 1991, which are only an excerpt of her entire experimental work. On the one hand, the experiments described are unfortunately only fragmentary and incomplete, as well as there is no complete and detailed description of the examinations (subjects, methodology, design) and results, which makes an assessment and comparison of the experiments with each other and with current studies very difficult. On the other hand, their experiments were accompanied and financially supported by recognized state institutions of the then USSR, such as the Scientific Institute of Physical Culture, the Geographical Society or the Siberian Academy of Sciences, as well as scientists of state institutions (geologists, psychologists, etc.) and others you yourself documented. The food rations of the control groups were compiled according to the standards of the Institute of Food Research (balanced diet or mixed diet, rich in energy and animal protein: meat, sausage, cheese, quark, pasta, sweets, etc.), the Schatalova group according to the standards true health and diet (herbal, natural, full-value and high-energy foods such as fruits, vegetables, fresh greens, grains and much more.). Schatalova's first official experiment was carried out during the 7-day Supermarathon 1983 over 500 km (daily 70 - 72 km) with male runners. Overall, this experimental Supermarathon series consisted of 4 runs, two in 1983 and 1984: The above-mentioned, an experimental long-distance run in 1983, a 5-day supermarathon over 450 km (90 km daily, female runner finishing overall 6th place out of 40 men), and a 4-day run over 500 km (125 km / day), both in 1984. After the Supermarathon series followed 1985 - 1986 a series of mountain walks (unfortunately not described), including three male height climbers (summit: 5,000 m), a medically accompanied altitude camp at 3,000 m with daily mountain walks of about 25 km on two daily stages divided (25 km and 10 km), and a 23-day hike over 4 high mountain passes. 1987 - 1990 followed the series of four desert expeditions with a daily average of 25 - 35 km through the dry-hot deserts of Central Asia and a maximum daily ration of 600 kcal and 1.6 liters of liquid (water, tea). The first desert crossing on behalf of the Geographic Society of the USSR led over 125 km. The second desert crossing in 1988 with a total of 406 km for the Schatalova group was a disaster for the Czech guests, well-trained athletes, after 134 km, as the entire group of guests had to give up the athletes and be taken to inhabited area. Thereafter, the Schatalova group of former cured patients marched another 272 km to the finish. In 1990, the final desert expedition with 500 km of track was completed in just 16 days (31 km / day) instead of the planned 20 days. A typical feature of all experiments during this period from 1983 to 1990 is the daily intake of food and drink: eat once a day and drink twice a day, with either stable or slightly increased body weight after each load for many days. Schatalova's research results after 13 years of intensive research, practical treatment and 7 years of experimental field trials are her Concept of curative (welfare) nutrition, and System of natural recovery. The Schatalova system, with its appropriate and curative diet, impressively demonstrates in severe and critically ill patients that it is energy-and fluid-restricted at a daily intake of 250-400 kcal at rest, approximately 1,100-1,200 kcal and maximum 1 - 1.6 L / day successfully transferred from the state of "practical" health (rest: 1.200 - 1.700 kcal / day, activity: approx. 6.000 kcal / day, 10 - 16 L / day) to the state of complete health. Criticism: Various weaknesses in the presentation of Schatalova's examinations and experiments (design, performance characteristics, incomplete results, health status of patients years after complete healing, etc.) leave many questions unanswered and at the same time raise new questions, which are provided by a study trip to the institutions, in whose archives their original study reports are kept, perhaps could be answered. Nevertheless, I have great respect for Galina Schatalova's remarkable pioneering work.
srid
Wouldn't eating such a low amount lead to muscle atrophy?
mccoy
The data are not too clear. 6000 kCal when in health? That's a quantity not even many bodybuilders ingest. And 300 kcal when at rest? Why such a wild range?
sM1o
Hi, I did not think anyone would answer. @srid Hi and thanks for the first reaction. By no means confirm the books and well the experiments. Muscle mass as well as fat content have remained constant! @ McCoy: Maybe I did not translate it quite right. The people who live according to Galina's method take 300-400kcal to themselves in normal situation and for example dessert crossing take you 1100-1200 to itself. The second test group ("normal" people and athletes took up to 6000 kcal per dive at the dessert crossing. To be honest, I am shocked that so little is to be found about her theories outside Russia and Germany ... I think her investigations, experiments, results and explanations are in many ways impressive (see her book chapters). And since it's my first post this year: Happy New Year everybody sMio
mccoy
sMio, fact is that those claims are so extraordinary that they would need extraordinary evidence. My anecdotal case for exmple: when on the Longo's fast-mimicking diet (1100 kcal first day, 730 kcal successive 4 days) I'll loose one pound per day on the average. People on half that energy displaying constant weight is an exceptional claim. If the method is really effective, it should be financed and validated by controlled trials. The method, if generally applicable, would eliminate starvation in underdeveloped countries and deserve not one, but numerous Nobel prizes. Genny
She sounds like a liar and a dangerous crackpot. I also lose one pound a day on a water fast (mostly because mine aren't any longer than 5 days, so I'm still losing water quite a bit at the end, and I lose more than a pound a day on average at the beginning because of glycogen binding to water). EVERYONE loses weight fasting. It's simple physics. She's making impossible claims.
