mccoy
Gradually is better because it reduces the risk of injury. In your case, free-body exercises are good to start out with, or very light weights, frequency: depends on exercises, you can repeat when muscle soreness goes away, every other day is a general good schedule, every day when trained and if exertion is not great. Times: 20 minutes is good to begin with.

mccoy
It depends on the intensity of the exercise. One good rule is to follow muscle soreness. If you feel sore muscles the day after, wait one more day (or two more days if necessary). If you don't feel sore, you can exercise every day until you increase the intensity.
