I don't agree with many things Martenson says, but far from everything he says is wrong either.

Fauci was, in fact, playing politics and it appears that he privately did not believe in at least some of the politically imposed Covid-related mandates that he publically supported.  There appears to be some evidence to indicate that he may have been actively influencing the steering of the investigation of the Covid-2 origin. The Anderson email suggesting lab involvement, the undisclosed Fauci-Anderson conversation, and Anderson's subsequent 180-degree turn in Nature, and the $2 million NIH grant given to him shortly after the article are all things that should raise everyone's eyebrows. Neither The Lancet nor Nature should have published such opinion pieces, and should at least allowed rebuttals. But that pales with the unprecedented lockdowns that may have changed the course of history.

I am hoping that this will be looked at, as part of the US and EU investigation, as well as the WHO's role in adamantly supporting China's position and promoting its methods of containment. I also hope that this will not be swept under the rug, because if there are irregularities, they must be addressed at a structural level so that it doesn't happen again.

There are also real questions about the mRNA vaccines and I am glad to see that the CDC is holding an emergency meeting to address some of them. An Oxford study claimed that the mRNA vaccines have similar clotting effects to those identified in the AZ and J&J populations.

I don't subscribe to some the doom and gloom scenarios presented in some of the posts above, but the process and "the science" have been politicized enough to raise reasonable doubts and to merit an open discussion. Because the questions are real and must be addressed, not suppressed.

Allowing social media to delete such discussions, and allowing politicians and the media to cancel scientists, or bully science journals to publish, or refuse to consider, or retract politically unpopular research, is just wrong and it must be stopped.

Well stated.   Al's remark had me thinking similarly but I wasn't willing to invest much thought into countering what looked to me as thoughtless snark.  But I'm thankful you did.

Yeah, this censorship by the private companies that today own and control the largest public forums in history is dangerous to society and democracy.

As these monopolies have become aligned with a specific political ideology, they are acting as surrogates for the state in exercising media control and political censorship. Germany's National Socialists successfully used and rewarded private businesses in a similar fashion and Russia and China employ the same scheme today, since abandoning the command economy model.

The censorship and ideological propaganda already had a profound effect in destabilizing Western societies and making acceptable public policies unimaginable a decade ago.

Abstract

Background: COVID-19 vaccines have had expedited reviews without sufficient safety data. We wanted to compare risks and benefits. Method: We calculated the number needed to vaccinate (NNTV) from a large Israeli field study to prevent one death. We accessed the Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR) database of the European Medicines Agency and of the Dutch National Register (lareb.nl) to extract the number of cases reporting severe side effects and the number of cases with fatal side effects. Result: The NNTV is between 200–700 to prevent one case of COVID-19 for the mRNA vaccine marketed by Pfizer, while the NNTV to prevent one death is between 9000 and 50,000 (95% confidence interval), with 16,000 as a point estimate. The number of cases experiencing adverse reactions has been reported to be 700 per 100,000 vaccinations. Currently, we see 16 serious side effects per 100,000 vaccinations, and the number of fatal side effects is at 4.11/100,000 vaccinations. For three deaths prevented by vaccination we have to accept two inflicted by vaccination. Conclusions: This lack of clear benefit should cause governments to rethink their vaccination policy.

I didn't read the actual study, but wonder if the low relative benefit of the mRNA vaccines is partially due to comparing total population to vaccinated population, which the latter still comprised of predominantly older folks, with a significantly higher number of comorbidities?

Thanks for the video. The topic is even more important now that Covid has dramatically increased the politicization of science by the Left.

This first manifested in a significant way back in 2019, when James Watson was cancelled and stripped of his Nobel Prize for stating the fact that IQ varies among large groups, as it does among individuals.

OK, this is a lame rebuttal too, but come on man, just right off the bat the above statement seems ludicrous.  In my county with population of 525,000 it has been reported that "98.1% of adults in the county have been vaccinated" and yet I have not heard of anyone dropping dead from the vaccine - is it supposed to be some big conspiracy coverup?  Pretty much every adult I interact with has been vaccinated and all of my family members, my wife, son, and myself, don't know of a single person that had any serious side effects.  They now screen out people with certain allergies and they also make you sit there for 15 minutes after getting the vaccine to verify you are fine before you can leave.

I think you have to take the data in VAERS with a grain of salt.  You give 136 million Americans a shot, even with placebo, and especially when you are initially focused on the most vulnerable, the elderly or people with comorbidities, and you should expect a certain number of them to die within a week, even more within a month, and a whole lot within 6 months to a year.

Without the vaccines, everyone is likely to get covid-19, just look at the stats in the UK right now (which by the way, just spiked to 20,000 new infections per day) largely its the unvaccinated that are getting sick and spreading it.  Deaths are still quite low in the UK at just 23 a day, but are 15 people a day dying there from vaccinations?  NO.  That flawed conclusion from the study you posted is absurd.
