Best way to avoid myopenia is by stimulation of the mechanogrowth factor (a form of local IGF-1) by weightlifting (and ingestion of enough nutrients). Urolithin a is natura substance found in berries and wine. Findings In this randomized clinical trial of 66 older adults, those who received supplementation with 1000 mg of urolithin A had a significant improvement in muscle endurance (number of muscle contractions until fatigue) for both hand and leg skeletal muscles compared with those who used placebo. Plasma levels of several acylcarnitines, ceramides (biomarkers of mitochondrial health), and C-reactive protein were decreased after urolithin A supplementation.
