Alex K Chen
Pregnancy is A LOT of stress that accelerates epigenetic clocks, but SOME of that is reversible (see jesse pogalnick). Also, women go under the opposite of CR while pregnant (and pre-pregnant) and this accelerates aging. But otoh, there's parabiosis between mom and child while the child is still in the womb. From everything I know, becoming supercentenarian is not super-correlated with having (or not having) children (both childfree and child-bearing women have the chance) Maria Entraigues Abramson might be a super-ager and she never got pregnant. Idk how pregnancy affects age of menopause. Also, pregnancy shrinks brain size. Edited February 24 by InquilineKea
Alex K Chen
There is ample evidence that having a small number of children actually extends their average lifespan. decreases overall mortality risk. For example, see: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23176782/ Perhaps the extraordinary (if common!) state of being pregnant causes some of the age-associated biomarkers to detour, and express differently than they do during non-pregnancy, i.e., for the general (overwhelmingly not pregnant) population that are used to train the clock. IgorF
Coleen Murphy in her recent book "How We Age: The Science of Longevity" mentions it many times - the less children - the better woman's chances for longevity. It should be easy to derive this from the fact that igf1/insulin-related areas heavy involvement in fetal and post-natal growth (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5779855/) will not left unnoticable for her body also.
